Measuring ring size at home – 2 different ways

There are several different ways to measure ring size at home. Here we list two different ways that will suit you, whether you have a ring at home that already fits, or if you want to measure ring size without a ring.

1. Measuring ring size with a ring

Do you have a ring that you know fits? Here's an easy way to find out your ring size. Use a caliper (or a ruler if you don't have a caliper) and measure the diameter of the inside of your ring. Round up to the nearest millimeter. Then use the conversion chart above to find your size.

2. Measure ring size with string

If you don't have access to a measuring ring or a ring that you know fits, you can also use a string - a convenient way to measure ring size without a ring. Here's how to measure ring size with string:

  1. Use a piece of string and wrap it around your finger
  2. Make a mark on the string where it meets the end of the string
  3. Straighten the string and measure it from end to mark with a ruler – now you know the circumference of your finger

Note! The circumference of the finger is usually widest around the knuckle. You want to make sure the ring can reach over the knuckle to fit.

It is also possible to use a measuring tape that you wrap around your finger and read off.
